Microsoft Windows
Versions 95 and up

• Processors: Pentium 1 and up.
• Memory:

• Software: Microsoft Word or other word processors are not required. However, ScholarWord can integrate with MS-Word 97-2007, WordPro 9.6, Corel WordPerfect 8-X3.

Mac OS X
Versions 10.1 and up

• Processor: Power PC G3, and new Intel Macs!
• Memory: 128 Mg’s and up.

• Software: Microsoft Word or other word processors are not required. However, ScholarWord can integrate with MS-Word 97-2007, WordPro 9.6, Corel WordPerfect 8-X3, or Apple iWorks ’06 Pages2.

Mac Classic
Versions 8.1-9.2.x

• Processor: Power PC G3

• Memory: 12 megabytes of free memory while MS Word 98 (Office 98) or MS Word 2001 (Office 2001) are open. This can be checked in the Apple menu while the finder is the front-most app.

• Software: Microsoft Word or other word processors are not required. . However, ScholarWord can integrate with MS-Word 97 and up. Integration with WordPro 9.6 and Corel WordPerfect 8 or higher are in the beta stage and not officially supported.

If there is not enough RAM the user can enable virtual memory in the memory control panel. This makes the application take up less ram and allows you to use disk space as ram - the higher you go the less performance the system has. The recommended setting as a balance between performance and memory availability is to set it one megabyte higher than your physical ram. If not enough you can increase up to 50% higher than physical RM with little impact on performance or 100% with more impact on performance.

Linux

Any x86-based Linux distribution with GTK+ 2.0 (or higher), Glibc-2.3 (or higher) and CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System). This includes Red Hat Enterprise 3 and SuSE Linux 8.1 (and higher).
